It goes without saying that I’ve been on a huge MATCHA kick. I’ve been super inspired by Boba Guy’s strawberry matcha latte and trying to find creative ways to make matcha drinks.
Elevate your Matcha Latte
1) Fruit Choices
I made two versions – one strawberry and one blueberry matcha latte. You can create a fruit compote using any type of fruit, fresh or frozen using these recipes. My personal preference is creating a strawberry compote as the strawberries have better texture. You can try a mix of strawberry and blueberries or any fruit of your choice.
If you make extra fruit compote, store the remainder in an airtight container for your next cup!
2) Dalgona Style
A fun twist to this matcha latte would be making the matcha dalgona style, check out additional tips and original recipe here. I would recommend creating the fluffy matcha with egg whites, but you can also use heavy whipping cream. Check out the original recipe for directions. [EGG WHITES RECIPE BELOW]
3) Boba
Don’t forget to add the boba to your matcha latte to make it even better! These are super easy to make at home. Just follow the directions on the package, but basically you will simmer the boba pearls for about 5 minutes.
Matcha
If you do not have a matcha whisk, the other option would be to put the matcha powder with hot water in a bottle / closed capped container and shake it several times to break up the matcha powder. I use to do this hack before I got my own matcha whisk.
Here are some matcha recommendations from different teas to try or whisks you can get. If you are new to matcha, ceremonial is the highest grade matcha, but you can start with a universal or premium grade. The ceremonial matcha has the highest quality and is usually a vibrant green.
